Good news for our old sails!

A few years ago the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club of Shelburne, Nova Scotia acquired a small fleet of used Albacores from the Canadian government.  After a winter of refurbishing they had a working fleet ready to train and race with.  This was a great contribution to the fleet overall and last year they hosted the first annual Albacore East Coast Championships.  This was a huge success attracting boats from the Toronto, Ottawa, and USA fleets.  In a cooperative effort to help in the building and maintaining of this new fleet Mooredale made a donation of used sails and equipment to this club.

Guy Tipton (quite the accomplished racer) of SHYC was down for the RCYC North American Championships recently and pick up all the goods.  He and Wayne King (also of SHYC) have passed along their extreme gratitude.  They further pass along a message that they have a growing learn to sail program taking advantage of the Albacore fleet as well as a youth racing program.  They are building a great future.

Special recognition should be given to Bob Logue and George Wilson for taking the time to put this package together for SHYC.

On a further note if you are interested on going to the East Coast Championships this year I highly recommend it.  Beautiful place with wonderful people and some good sailing to boot.  Check out www.albacore.ca and/or www.shyc.ca for event details.
