Feel like an excursion? Pointe au Baril Regatta (located on the east coast of Georgian Bay - Highway 69) Saturday, August 14th First Start at 1030. then a shore lunch at Jim Bradshaw's beautiful rock. Wonderfully civil basket lunches appear by the sailors support staff. Then 2 races starting at 1300.
A great dinner at the Ojibway Club, and awards.
The area was explored by Samuel de Champlain in 1615. A monument was erected in the 1940s to commemorate his travels through the area. It can be found near the newly renovated Ojibway Club, a favoured gathering place for many of the islanders.
There are some logistics involved - tow to the race course etc.
